So, again with Misery.

I like to state that everyone in their insanity has a bit of reason. And with this, we move on…

I enjoyed this movie because of 4 things:

  1. the fluidity of writing novels – i mean the guy just finished to write a novel and in the face of death he starts to write a brand new one and on the same note as his “famous” already published novels?
  2. the confidence in living alone and isolated (a bit like Secret Window) – now here we have two sides: Paul goes to the cottage when he must write, and Annie, well Annie lives by herself in the middle of God damn nowhere. Well, she`s not that lonely with her pig. And kidnapping a man. And killing the sheriff. Norman Bates, anyone? And what a coincidence of names… oh, Kathy…
  3. the passion and obsession for one person – now, Annie is a case that most people can relate to, up to one point. The passion that she expresses, the obsession, the commitment, and yet the duality of her might be somewhat understandable (the leaving husband, the remote location of her house, the stupid books she reads).
  4. the detective part from the local sheriff – although it`s not a big imprint in the movie, it has it`s sparks. I always get a soft spot for old men that play detective, and i never would have seen his end like that, although the movie prepared us for that (he never telling where he went, he driving alone to Annie, the urge to go back inside).

With these being said, i would consider Misery as being a full of suspense and thrilling movie.

P.S. It`s the hundred time i`ve watched it and it always surprises me with the same old thrills and i can never get old from them…

P.P.S. I never read Stephen King`s books. So it`s the point of view of a movie addict, not a book addict.
